$21.6 Million in Research Grants for Juvenile Arthritis and Childhood Musculoskeletal Conditions

JAFA welcomes the Health Minister’s April 27, 2022 announcement of the largest-ever research funding allocation for these under-resourced conditions. Eleven grants have been awarded to research groups across Australia to investigate ways of reducing pain, achieving earlier diagnosis, and improving the health outcomes of the thousands of children suffering with arthritis and related conditions though clinical interventions, data linkage and biobanking. This landmark government investment reflects growing political awareness of the plight of these children and represents an important step in beginning to address their unmet needs for services and support.
